Simon Herbert chatted with actress Moira Brooker (“As Times Goes By”) about Beacons, a play by Tabitha Mortiboy, inspired by and set in Eastbourne. The play centres on Moira’s character, an ice cream lady at Beachy Head, and regular customers played by Steven Pinder (Brookside, Wicked) and Polly Jordan (White Feather Boxer). The play explores their relationship and their pasts, and also the role of the Beachy Head Chaplaincy, but is also infused with humour. Moira also chatted about her long and varied career, and being inspired to become an actress by Judi Dench, whose daughter she later played on TV (although she has never told Dame Judi this!)
